  • Your blood is drawn from your arm.

  • The drawn blood is placed into a centrifuge to separate the components of blood from each other. After about 10 minutes in the centrifuge, your blood will have separated into three layers:

    • Platelet-Poor Plasma (PPP)

    • Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP)

    • Red Blood Cells

  • To help reduce any pain you may feel a topical anesthetic is applied to the scalp prior to the treatment. The PRP is injected back into the scalp region that is balding or thinning, in the areas that need increased hair growth.

  • The PPP is microneedled with a CytoPen into the treated area.

Recommendation.

This method is ideal for men and women with thinning hair who wish to take restorative and preventative hair loss measures. PRP, not for those who are already bald or have significant bald patches.

Number of Treatments.

3 treatments of PRP injections with the PPP being microneedled into the scalp 6-8 weeks apart. Maintenance treatments are required every 4–6 months?

PRP is not recommended if you’ve been diagnosed with:

  • Acute or chronic infections

  • Cancer

  • Chronic Liver Diseases

  • Chronic skin disease

  • Hemodynamic Instability

  • Hypofibrinogenemia

  • Platelet Dysfunction Syndromes

  • Systemic disorder

  • Sepsis

  • Low platelet count

  • Thyroid disease

Side Effects.

Any injection may have possible side effects such as:

  • Injury to blood vessels or nerves

  • Infection

  • Calcification at the injection points

  • Scar tissue

Microneedling itself may cause:

  • Bruising

  • Oozing from the wounds

  • Redness

  • Swelling

  • Pain

To avoid any negative reaction to the anesthetic used in the therapy, let your doctor know in advance about your tolerance to anesthetics.

Is PPR Therapy FDA approved?

PRP therapy is cleared by the FDA for use in orthopedics, but it's considered off-label for skin, vaginal, and hair therapy procedures.  The use of PRP does not require FDA approval, however, in the US, the device used to prepare PRP must be approved by the FDA.
